WHAT TO EXPECT

  • What is the first step?
The first step in securing the puppy of your choice is by placing a deposit. You can expect to pay a non-refundable $350.00 deposit to reserve your pup.
  • How long before I pick up my new friend?
While the State of Tennessee does not require a set age at which puppies can be sold, we feel it is vitally important to a puppy's health and wellbeing that they are fully vetted and vaccinated before being picked up by their new family. Therefore, all of our puppies can be picked up at eight weeks of age instead of six weeks of age, like many other breeders. This ensures all puppies are fully weaned and eating food on their own before they leave for their forever home.
  • What can I expect to be included in the purchase price?
All of our puppies come with a full vet examination and health certificate, as well as, their six and eight week vaccines. They will also be on a de-worming plan at two, four, six, and eight weeks. Furthermore, all puppies will have their tails docked and dewclaws removed. Each puppy will leave with a new-puppy packet, which will include a transition size bag of puppy food.
  • Are payment plans offered?
We understand that bringing home a new puppy is an exciting endeavor, and we want to make the process as convenient as possible for you. While you have the option to pay the deposit upfront to reserve your adorable companion and settle the remaining balance upon pickup, we also offer a flexible payment plan for those who prefer to spread out the cost. Once your deposit is secured, you can choose to make payments in any increment and at your preferred frequency, ensuring that the total cost is paid in full by the eight-week pickup date. This way, you can enjoy the joy of anticipating your new furry family member without any financial stress. We're here to make your new-puppy experience seamless and delightful!

  • Will the pups have any training?
At Melody Manor Aussies, all of our puppies undergo ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) & ESI (Early Scent Introduction) from days 3-16 after birth. We do this for a variety of reasons, some of which include temperament, handling and brain development. But we also do this for those puppies that are chosen to go on into service dog or scent work training in the future. ENS & ESI are wonderful ways to help grow happy, healthy pups whether they are meant to be service dogs, herders on the farm, competitive athletes or just amazing companions. From AKC.org What does ENS do? When performed correctly, ENS is believed to impact the neurological system by kicking it into action earlier than would be normally expected, the result being an increased capacity that later will help to make the difference in its performance, according to Breeding Better Dogs. Five benefits have been observed in canines that were exposed to ENS, including improved cardio vascular performance (heart rate); stronger heart beats; stronger adrenal glands; more tolerance to stress; and greater resistance to disease. In tests of learning, ENS stimulated pups were more active and exploratory than their non- stimulated littermates, according to Breeding Better Dogs What does ESI do? Early Scent Introduction (ESI) is a procedure we do that helps puppies with their nose awareness and confidence. It enhances their ability to identify and react to scents. Similar to Early Neurological Stimulation, ESI is introduced at days 3-16 of a puppies life and is very benefical for their development. During this curriculum, we expose them to a different scent each day. As we do this, we hold the puppy close to us, and let them smell each item. After this we then chart their reaction on their neonatal care chart. The reaction is considered to be positive when the puppy shows interest in the scent, moving his/her nose towards it. A negative reaction is recorded when the puppy tries to move away from the scent. If a puppy is neither interested or uninterested in the scent, this is considered a neutral reaction. What are the benefits? This procedure creates a more aware and alert dog, which in return makes an even better companion, service, and therapy dog. Many times with therapy and early service dog training, the dog’s scent abilities are a characteristic that is required. Studies have shown that stimulating puppies scent ability early on has been proven to dramatically increase their scent ability later in life. Here are a few examples of how dogs can help through their scent abilities— Nearly half of children with autism tend to run away or go missing. Many dogs are trained to follow the scent and can locate the child. Diabetic alert dogs are trained to detect low or high blood sugar levels by the smells in the air. Some dogs can even let an elderly person know that the stove has been left on, or even a gas leak. Naturally some dogs have more of natural nose instinct compared to others. By doing this training and recording their reactions it helps us match the right pup with the right individual need.
